Superintendent
Message from the Superintendent

I Am Humbled and Honored to Continue Serving the Taft ISD Greyhound Family.
Having now been part of this district for several years, I can truly say that Taft is an integral part of my daily life. Raised in a small coastal community that valued family, tradition, and preparing the next generation to achieve their dreams, I have felt a strong connection here. Over the past several years, that connection has only deepened as I have had the privilege of working alongside our outstanding staff, students, families, and community members.
Throughout my time in Taft ISD, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication of our Board of Trustees, teachers, and staff, all of whom remain steadfast in making decisions that place students first. Our district’s commitment to high expectations, accountability, and the building of strong relationships continues to define who we are and what we stand for.
The pride and tradition that represent Taft ISD are visible every day at Woodroe Petty Elementary, Ricardo L. Treviño Junior High, and Taft High School. Together, we celebrate these traditions while also embracing innovation that prepares our students for a rapidly changing future.
As your superintendent, I remain committed to fostering relationships, supporting our teachers and staff, and ensuring that every student receives a high-quality education that prepares them for college, careers, and life. Just as importantly, we will continue to provide a safe learning environment and be responsible stewards of taxpayer resources.
The charge of the Taft Mission remains clear: Building the Future One Mind at a Time! I am proud of what we have accomplished together over the past several years, and I am excited about the future we will continue to shape side by side.
Irene Garza, Ph.D.
